House in progress

Here are just a few pictures of our house projects we have been working on the last week nothing is complete yet but things are coming together!

We Have Arrived!!!

Well we have been in our new house a little over a week and it has been wonderful!!!! Thanks to my handy little husband we have gotten so much more accomplished than I thought possible! Especially considering I'm now 34 weeks pregnant! So far we have painted the Family Room, Formal Living and Dining Rooms, and the Master Bedroom. I am really pleased with how the paint colors have turned out and only had one little mishap with the family room being a little too "purple". Luckily Ace is literally across the street and I got to try out their new Kensington and Clark brand which I really liked! Because our home builder uses Frazee for all their homes we actually get a 20% discount their and saved a ton on all our paint (minus the family room). We have used flat paint in all our rooms so far and the coverage has been great! We are currently working on Scarlett's soon to be room and here is a little preview of whats going on. Thank you Pinterest for so many ideas! I can't wait to see how this technique turns out!

Latest crochet projects

This is another receiving blanket I made for Scarlett using the sideways scallop! It is a fun pattern and I am really pleased with how it turned out!

And these are two kingsize pillow cases I made for my mothers birthday! I used the lattice stitch and did two rows with alternating colors. I will definitely be making more like this.

We also will be moving in to our first home next weekend!!! We bought it as a spec home several months ago while it was still in the framing stage. We have already had so much fun picking out fixtures, Cabinets, etc. I will begin posting more interior design and home DIY posts as we settle into our new place!

Nesting

Here are some things I have been working on for the new arrival of our baby girl Scarlett.

The bird blanket I just sewed two pieces of fabric together added a blanket stitch and now I am working on crocheting the edges with a side scallop.

I also bought a pack of four receiving blankets from target and crochet four different stitches one on each.

Look at those LEGS!

OK so I lack a good before picture for this beauty but I'm sure you have a great imagination!! so just picture an old rickety table with several NASTY gooped on coats of a strange redish brown stain... OK now sand it a BAZILLION times after stripping it till your fingers fall off  and paint it FOR HOURS ON end!! but not before letting it sit on your porch for  a LONG time, then paint the dang thing black and this is what you get!

Isn't she lovely... now if I could only upgrade my metal folding chairs to be as classy.

The ugly stinky one

You know that dresser on Craig's list with the beer cans on top of it.. that is ugly dingy brown... that you know is probably going to smell so bad that it stenches up your whole house?! Yes THIS was THAT dresser never the less I HAD to have it so dragged my poor little husband all over town to go claim it and its two matching night stands for a mere $75 here it is in all its stinkin glory:

We brought it home where yes it did stink up our apartment.. and I doused it in baking soda. to my surprise the lovely lined drawers  of Yellow flower paper had only been tacked in so 

I pulled them out to revel drawers that had hardly ever been touched. I then sanded and primed the entire dresser.

Next it got a several coats of Mediterranean Blue valspar spray paint.

I then took an ebony colored minwax stain and painted the entire piece and then removed the excess with a damp cloth to accentuate all its lovely curves and crevices.

the hardware was also soaked in vinegar and baking soda then painted black.
